The 2023 Scotiabank Giller Prize jury announced the shortlist on Wednesday, October 11, 2023. The five titles were chosen from a longlist of 12 books announced on September 6, 2023. One hundred and forty-five titles were submitted from publishers across the country.

Voir la Nuit / View the Night at Quebec City's fine arts museum explores artistic expressions of the dark. We speak with Jean-Luc Murray, director general of the MNBAQ, about the new approach by the museum to create an experience that appeals directly to the senses and emotions of visitors. The exhibition reveals how artists explore darkness - as well as nocturnal light - like moonlight, or candles, or electric lights.

For the first time, secret sketches by Michelangelo at the Medici Chapels in Florence, Italy, are being shared with the public. The tour takes people into a small room underneath the chapels, where it’s believed Michelangelo hid for some time in 1530. And as museum director Paola D'Agostino tells As It Happens host, Nil Köksal, the room is breathtaking.
