ALEPIN KNEIDAR, Francesca

How to reach this artist:
______________________
Around twenty years dedicated to glass art integrated into architecture, creations on an international scale. As many exclusive works as series works, including the famous HECTARUS® glass sinks (1990-2010). It was the attraction for Japanese paper that led me to paint, and the laminating of my papers introduced me to creation on wooden panels. Since 2009, I have encountered the absolute through writing, through words and through painting. The words help me to structure my thoughts, the gestures that I master allow me to continue my deep reflection in pictorial art. My works come from pure abstract!

AMIRA – Divinity Textures

Learn more about this artist:

ASSI, Nour

I am a self-taught painter based in Montreal. I see art as an invitation to connect with that which is bigger than ourselves and a way to dive into imagination: what lies beyond our sight. I trust my intuition and let my emotions guide me through my paintings letting each piece unfold naturally. Through expressive brushstrokes and vibrant compositions, I seek to translate feelings into color and movement, creating pieces that spark curiosity and introspection. This is where I find myself creating.

BOISVERT, Nancy

I am a self-taught fine art painter based in Montreal and have been creating for over 20 years. I primarily focus on wildlife, combining realism with unique, sometimes whimsical elements. I strive to capture the beauty of nature, using contrast to highlight my subjects against thoughtfully crafted backgrounds—whether deep and dramatic or light and airy.
While oil painting is my main medium, I occasionally incorporate mixed media, such as metal leaf or textured paper, to add depth and contrast. My work has been collected privately, and I’ve contributed to fundraising efforts supporting animal welfare—something close to my heart. I strive to create pieces that engage the viewer, whether through intricate realism or an unexpected artistic twist.

BOUTIN, Rachel

Art, with a capital A, has always been my deepest passion. For years, I pursued this dream, but was often haunted by doubt and limited to reproductions. My course in art history was a revelation, opening the doors to an authentic expression. Today, using a multitude of media, I live my life to the full as a Quebec artist. Through each stroke, each nuance, I rediscover the very essence of my being. Art connects me to a form of pure happiness and allows me to freely explore my inspirations, often guided by the faithful presence of animals in my work. Each work I create is an exploration of myself, an affirmation of my unique voice in this vast artistic landscape. I draw and embroider not only to enrich my own existence, but also to touch the hearts and minds of those who share my passion for art. If my creations can also find their true home, then my artistic path finds an even deeper and more gratifying meaning.

BUNDARU, Doina

Website: https://www.doinabundaru.com/
Born in Bucharest, Romania, I have always been inspired by the arts, being at the same time drawn to the sciences. I chose an engineering education, and I completed a master’s degree in Automation and Control Systems.
Starting with 2014 I could allocate time to my old passion, and a number of painting and drawing classes and workshops at the Cummings Centre and École des Beaux-arts de Montréal, helped me fully immerse in this beautiful world of colors. Painting teaches me to explore and learn more about myself and the world around us, teaches me to see and discover beauty in simple things of the everyday life.
Using a visual vocabulary that combines colors, lines, shapes, and texture, I invite the viewers to immerse themselves into the story of the paintings or to imagine their own stories using the chromatic and emotional background provided.
My paintings have been accepted in juried exhibitions, and I participated to more than 70 group exhibitions, three solo exhibitions and two duo exhibitions. My paintings can be found in private collections in Canada and Europe.

CAMBRIA, Francesca

In 2022, I immersed myself in an autodidactic approach to learning about abstract art. I never looked back as I entered a whole new world of expression and freedom. Mine are bold abstract paintings, acrylic and pencil on gallery wrapped canvas. Inspired by the beautiful shapes, textures, and colours in nature and especially in gardens, I create layers and layers of contrasting elements, freely taking myself (and hopefully the viewer) on an adventure full of wonder and hidden surprises. As the paint, pencil markings, and colourful forms take shape, my wish is for YOU to be lifted in spirit, as I am, and experience moments of true joy and happiness.
My first painting was selected for a juried exhibit in October of 2022 at Stewart Hall’s Art Rental Collection 2023, and it sold. The following year (2023), I had the honour of having my first two solo exhibits; and two group exhibits with the Artists’ Association of Dollard (AAD); I have been selected for more juried and solo exhibits since then. I also became an Executive Member of the AAD and, to my absolute delight, an executive member of the coveted Lakeshore Artists Association (LAA). In addition, I was the first artist ever to exhibit at DeSerres in Pointe-Claire and they invited me to teach an Intuitive Art class in 2024.

DEMERS, Eveline

evelinedemersart

DLUSY-APEL, Deena

I have painted all my life and have had the pleasure of teaching all levels of students from preschool to university. I ended my career supervising the art education students at Concordia. I have an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts and an MA in Art Education, both from Concordia, and spent 2 years in the Art School at the University of Waterloo. where I completed a body of work based on my personal experience with breast cancer. This body of work was the basis of my Master's thesis and reflects my work as an activist with BCAQ, a group devoted to the political struggle involved with the removal of harmful chemicals from our environment.
My husband and I have travelled extensively through Southeast Asia, and this experience has impacted my work as well. I have exhibited extensively over the years in group shows and have received recognition at a personal level.
My husband and I are currently working on our third documentary film which will premiere in November.

ELSDON, Ann

I studied art and art history at the Medway College of Art and at Leeds University in the UK before coming to Canada to complete an MA in English Literature at Concordia University. Since the 1970's in Montreal I've continued to take many courses and workshops in watercolor, pastel, oil sticks and acrylics at the Visual Arts Centre, the Saidye Bronfman Centre, McGill, Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, and the studios of Ming Ma, Jacques Clement and Melanie Matthews.
In March 2025 I exhibited in a juried duo show at the Gallery at Victoria Hall, Westmount, and previously in many group and duo shows in Montreal including Visual Voice Gallery, Warren Flowers Gallery (Dawson College), Maison de la Culture, N.D.G., E.K. Voland Gallery, Gallery at Victoria Hall. Solo shows at Cafe Aunja (215) and Cafe Magpie (2018).
I usually work in series, never really knowing when they will end and a new one will emerge. I experiment continuously with materials, mediums and processes on different substrates. But there's usually a subtext of sometimes unsettling juxtapositions of beauty and inevitable decay, a nod to 'momento mori'. A reflection of the unsettled contemporary world, but also an echo of connections to the past interwoven with references to my personal history.

FORTIN, Helen

My journey started years ago as I was taking a painting course and my teacher leaned over and said, “its time stop being the promoter and become the artist”.
As a former board member of the Visual Arts Centre (2021-2024), and a career in artists’ management, I understand the tremendous influence art has in unifying a community. This has become my personal mission which I share through my work and involvement on committees with a number of Arts organizations.
I am influenced by expressionism, and whether landscape or abstract, my paintings are imbued with flowing saturated colour schemes and layered textures, all enlivened by a vivid colour palette, the result exuding a jarring sense of movement, power and light.

GELINAS, Marie-José

How to reach this artist:
I am a self-taught artist. As an intensely curious person, have always observed and interpreted the world around me. As a young girl, I drew: in pencil, charcoal, ink, pastel. A lifelong diarist, I am a dedicated writer. Creative work is the way I make sense of things.
I am primarily a painter of landscapes. Early on, I painted impressionistic oil paintings, inspired by places that were meaningful to me. Over time, I realized that my source was the feeling I got when I was in the landscape. I connected to the energy of transformation, the hope inherent in the cyclical nature of everything, and the constant movement generated by the endless recurrence of these cycles.
Through this process, I learned that the story told by the landscape is my story too. In nature, I am the witness. The landscape surrounds me, but it also reaches in to connect to the part of me that belongs here. Being in nature restores my sense of belonging in this place, at this time. No matter where I am in the natural world, I can find that thread to my inner landscape.

GIROUX, Marie-Christine

Painter from the Quebec area, I was born in the 1980s. I learned to paint through various private classes taken over several years while a teenager. I immediately fell in love with the unique smell of paint, the soft brushes and the play of colors. Painting became an outlet, a way to express myself at my own rhythm through this art.
Then, life continued and went on and I stopped painting. During several years, I did not yearn, nor did I had the time to paint. And suddenly, I had a burst of creativity, this intense need to fill a canvas full of colors that came back in force. Although in a different way. While I used to reproduce pictures, now I was being led by my inspiration, my feelings, by whom I am. Without constraints nor roles to play. My paintings are now leaning toward abstract, often inspired by nature or my personal experiences. I express my point of view, which may be a bit naive, on life. My joy and wonders for all the little happiness in life, as well as the bigger ones. It is this freedom and gentleness that I wish to share as an artist.

HENSEL, Nicky

Inspired by Great Masters such as John Singer Sargent, Renoir, Monet, Gainsborough and Turner, artist Nicky has guided her brush to interpret vivid landscapes and portraits of Paris, London, Venice, New York and most recently, Montreal—an extension of her Aristocrats series.
Artist Nicky’s fascination with the art and aristocracy of the 18th and 19th centuries has imbued her recent work with a decadence that invites onlookers to put on their finest robes, gorge on flaked pastry topped with whipping cream and clap merrily, as a royal poodle jumps upon a silk-draped lap.
Marquis, Pages, Dukes, Duchesses, Kings and Queens float out of the artist’s carefully curated research library and onto the canvas before her. Thick, unctuous pigment is layered in broad, audacious strokes, invoking the style of the impressionists. One can all but hear classical airs lilting in the background.
The Aristocrats series is the culmination of 17 years of painting, which began when Nicky came to Montreal from her birth-town of Vernon, British Columbia. Painting has since been a means for the artist to slip away from the present, in order to tap into a historic era and mood she loves. Keen to explore environment as much as her human subjects, Nicky also captures the unique essence of world cities. Her most recent undertaking is a series of paintings of Montreal.

As a primarily self-taught artist with two decades of experience, my artistic journey has been a deeply personal and evolving exploration of creativity. I've always believed that art is a form of self-expression, a means of translating my emotions and thoughts into visual forms.
Over the years I have been persistent in taking lessons. It all started with the Saint-Laurent Art Association in Montreal for a period of 5 years and subsequently studied under Monique Lafond established Montreal artist for another 10 years. Taking those lessons allowed me to carve out time for painting and explore different mediums and subsequently find my way into my own style and passion.

KILANI, Rania

I am a self taught abstract artist that enjoys using a diverse range of media to create unique and vibrant paintings.
In my art process, I first select colours based on my current emotional state, choosing hues that reflect my mood. I then apply these colors to the canvas, allowing the paint to flow freely and dictate its own course. I follow the fluid movement of the paint, embracing its natural rhythm and letting it create unique patterns and textures. The result is a spontaneous and organic composition that captures the essence of the moment and the beauty of allowing creativity to unfold organically.

I am an Indo-Canadian interpreter and artist living in Montreal. My journey as an artist started in India when I was in my teens, but when I emigrated to Montreal in the late 70s, I had to put my passion for art aside – temporarily – to focus on my new life and raising my two children.
Today, my art – both paintings and poetry – is largely influenced by the displaced people I encounter as an interpreter for asylum seekers and new immigrants. I channel their chaos, beauty, pain, struggles as well as my own life experiences through my art. I work mainly with acrylic but also with inks, markers and watercolours, using anything from brushes to palette knives to sponges to just about any material I can find in my home.
I feel privileged to have exhibited my art across Montreal, in Toronto and most recently, in Tokyo. My paintings and poetry have also been published in Blank Spaces, a Canadian Literary Arts magazine.

Website: https://www.artworkarchive.com/profile/yseultliris_artist
Maryse Lemay (Yseultliris) is a multidisciplinary artist who started painting in 2012. After more than twenty years in the performing arts as an actor, singer and dancer, painting naturally appeared in her life. She has been painting full time since 2022.
Her abstract paintings are an extension of who she is as a multidisciplinary artist. Like in music and dance, she approaches the practice with an immense thirst for freedom and authenticity.
Her objective is to trust her intuition and the creative process. Through the application of multiple layers of paint, lines, marks, gestures, colours and textures, her ultimate goal is to create emotional landscapes that connect and resonate with the viewer’s own internal universe.
LEVESQUE, Josée

Josée Levesque is a painter from the greater Montreal region in the province of Québec. She creates sculptural oil paintings inspired by nature.
Her process is defined by an acute attentiveness to details, which is essential in rendering the beauty and subtleties of foliage and flowers inhabiting her works. She focuses on textures, allowing her to bring depth to paintings – folding and unfolding layers of paint using knives to create petals as if they were blossoming from the gesture. Most of her works offers little to no perspective such as to amplify the immersive impression of observing nature up close.
All of this comes together to bring out this enthralling sensation that flows through us when we take the time to stop and admire nature in all its lavishness.

PANDELIDIS, Helena
I love to plaint flowers, inspired by my terrace which is in full bloom right now….fantastic colours. Recently, started some abstracts, which I find to be free and with no exact boundaries, just let imagination flow. I have exhibited in WAS and WASM group shows for many years, and have received prizes and honourable mention. I am very happy to have discovered this wonderful hobby.

POMEROY, Julia

__________________________
My artwork seeks to capture tender and fleeting moments, particularly through a maternal lens, that risk going unnoticed in a hyper-connected, electronic device-obsessed society. It is an invitation to slow down and return to what truly matters. Painting is also for me a tangible way to permanently imprint these moments in my body and mind so as not to forget.

ROMANOVICI, Maggie

How to reach this artist:
Maggie Romanovici was born in Romania, during the Communist dictatorship. In a closed society, there was an attraction to the arts and culture in general, as the only escape in life. Maggie showed a natural inclination towards drawing and colored pencils early on. In elementary school, teachers noticed that Maggie was very talented at drawing. Her father, also having had a penchant for painting, exerted an important influence on the artistic development of his daughter.
Maggie began to attend art school. Here, for six years, she formally learned drawing, watercolor, oil painting, and whatever else the school curriculum contained. Then she continued to hone her skills in private lessons with consecrated local painters. Her first participation in an exhibition was at age 12, with an oil painting. Others followed.
Because the Communist regime in her native Romania did not favor an artistic career, Maggie chose to teach languages. The contact with art never left her, but it was just later in her life and in Canada that Maggie returned to painting full time.
The first years are dedicated to figurative painting, but gradually Maggie discovers the freedom of expression offered by abstract painting. She has continued to take art classes on new techniques and materials to enrich and polish her way of expressing herself. Her curiosity and desire to progress remain constant.
Maggie is a member of several artists association and has exhibited in Galerie Lenoir, Gallery Ambigu, and other places. To date, Maggie has participated in more than 80 exhibitions, symposiums, contests, and earned prizes and medals. She lives in Montreal.

ROSEVAL, Sonia
Understanding of the world. Symbolism of Unity and Consciousness: Japanese ink on paper art, created through freehand drawing and inspired by my meditation, is a captivating expression of my inner world and my connection to the larger universe. The delicate lace-like patterns, formed by circular and geometric shapes with repetitive lines, symbolize the unity of consciousness. Through my intuitive brushstrokes, these forms come together to represent a harmonious whole, reflecting the interconnectedness of all beings. Japanese ink on paper art serves as a reminder of the profound beauty and unity that can be found through artistic expression and the practice of meditation. It invites viewers to contemplate their own place within the interconnected web of existence and to embrace the conscious unity that binds us all.

TROP, Francesca

Website: www.francescatrop.com
____________
Throughout the ages, art and mythologies have often walked hand in hand. Canadian artist Francesca Trop continues this dialogue with History and its myths, using her paintings to contemplate the human adventure and the stories we tell ourselves about our place in the cosmos. Francesca initially embraced a legal career before deciding, in 2009, to forego this path and choose fully her artistic self. She has since then developed her unique style and advanced her synthesis of representation and symbolic evocation. Francesca revisited the legal profession through a series of paintings. She authored three books (“Esprits juridiques, Legal Spirits”, 2018 and “Great trials that changed the world”, 2021) in which she explores questions relating to morality and justice through her own paintings, sketches and texts.
She currently works on new artistic projects exploring mythologies and philosophy through art. Francesca's work is included in several local and international collections and has been shown on the walls of various galleries and exhibitions.

ZIELINSKI, Donna

Donna Zielinski is a visual artist from Canada, who specializes in capturing photorealistic details in all of her subject matter. Throughout her career as an artist, Donna has worked closely with her collectors and represents on canvas the requests of her clients.
Donna uses many different mediums such as watercolours, oils, graphite, and pastels. She believes that working in a single medium is restrictive to her artistic process. Each idea manifests in its own individual style.
Ethereal and sentimental in their quality, Donna’s watercolour works are exacting and accomplished. Sometimes washy and sometimes photorealistic, her art both idealizes and illustrates the scene at hand. As a medium that is never totally controlled or wholly manipulated, Donna is able to express on paper a feeling that is unique to each viewer - in essence, the definition of art.
