Originally from Ukraine, Sofia Yatsyuk talks about her desire to help people in home country as they deal with a war. After visiting this summer, she became more determined than ever to find a way to do her part. She's organising and performing in a benefit concert on October 15th for a shelter that houses women and children displaced by the war who need medical aid and food.
Dear friends! During my trip to Ukraine a few weeks ago, I visited orphanages and shelters that are taking in wounded and displaced children escaping the war. One such shelter is Misto Dobra in Chernivtsi, who are providing housing, medical aid, food, warmth, and education to wounded children and orphans from all over Ukraine. I am organising a benefit concert in Montreal under the patronage of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress to raise funding for children affected by the war. Two thirds of Ukrainian children are currently displaced. With their homes, schools, and kindergartens destroyed, these children were forced to flee. Many have been wounded. Many have become orphans.
