Amy Blackmore has been a cultural worker in the English language arts scene for at least 20 years. At 17, she was already volunteering at the Montreal Fringe Festival. Now she's the Artistic and Executive Director of that festival and the organization that presents it, Mainline Theatre. She's also recently been named as the new President of the Canadian Association of Fringe Festivals. All of that, plus the many other roles she takes on in dance and theatre arts organizations: Amy Blackmore is more of a cultural warrior. Her approach seems to be about being in service to the arts. And apparently the foundation starts with growing up in the United Church.

Books:

A Montreal photographer tells the story of ruleless. Do you have a ruelle or an alleyway behind your house? What makes it special? One Montreal photographer visited hundreds of alleyways around Montreal to immortalize the life and people who make them lively. It's called "Ruelles", co written by author Sara G. Ferraris, and it's out as of this week. We spoke with photographer Ariel Tarr.
