From The Bridge CBC:
Poet Marcela Huerta says that, in her body, she carries the narrative of her parents' trauma from the 1973 coup in Chile. She releases it - for them all - in her poetry. Painter and sculptor, Carolina Echeverria dedicates all of her work in arts and culture to speaking truth to power; upholding the legacy of Salvador Allende, who she says gave the people of Chile 1000 days of glory before the violent Pinochet coup. The two generations of artists talk about how creative work of Chileans home and abroad will be the record and the source for healing.

Leon Louder – Entomophonie
In March of 2023, I was called by the Montreal Insectarium to propose a sound piece created using insect sounds as source material. In May, I was awarded the commission, which would have its premiere on the free outdoor stage at Mutek on August 23, accompanied by a digital album available for free streaming and download, and a podcast consisting of interviews I would give throughout the creative process.

Olivier Lemieu - JAPAN 4.0: THE COUNTRY THAT CHANGED ME FOREVER.
Travel and photography have always been part of my life. When I was young, I used to go on trips with my parents, and my father couldn't do without his camera to capture these moments. These trips left a lasting mark on me, and I have many fond memories of them (probably the best of my childhood!). Thanks to photography, they are engraved forever. As I've got older, this interest and my love of travel have continued to grow.

Heritage Montreal remembers:
A few days ago, we learned of the passing of Brian Merrett. This activist photographer used architecture as a medium through which he put his artistic talent at the service of Montreal's rich heritage, particularly during periods when it was threatened and disappearing. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, for example, he began photographically documenting the built environment and the life of downtown buildings, as well as neighborhoods along the Ville-Marie expressway and around Windsor station.

Folklore from The World.org:

The new opera, “Monkey: A Kung Fu Puppet Parable,” had its world premiere in Boston over the weekend. The story is based on an ancient Chinese folk tale and uses modern and diverse cultural elements to create a unique rendition of the popular fable.
