I create lively, vivid, highly abstracted paintings using acrylics, mixed-media materials, and all
sorts of tools to apply these to canvas or board. With no idea in mind when I start a series, I
have to let intuition and the principles of value, design, and colour be my guides. It's always
exciting to see what emerges from those first few layers of experimentation, play, and mark-
making.
I started painting in 2007 when my kids were still young. By 2011, I was showing my work in
exhibits and gallery spaces in Toronto. During that period I learned custom picture framing,
which led to the opening of an art/framing workshop in 2014 and then my own boutique art
gallery, Otto Art, in 2016.
After many years away from my hometown of Montreal, I returned to Quebec in 2023 and
settled in the Eastern Townships, where I find endless palette inspiration in the gorgeous natural
environment that surrounds me. Other sources of imagery come from gallery visits, architecture,
social media sites, and observation.
