At Quartier des Spectacles:

Created by Indigenous artists Julie-Christina Picher and Dave Jenniss,Weci | Koninut takes visitors into the heart of the Notcimik – the forest – following the rhythm of the six seasons of Atikamekw culture.

Composed of six giant dreamcatchers, the immersive installation evocative space encourages visitors to explore their own dreams and reflections. Each season—from Pitcipipon, the Pre-Winter, to Takwakin, the Autumn—creates a vibrant, immersive setting with its own unique interplay of light and sound. Visitors are invited to settle comfortably within this space, where their presence activates the experience and carries them into a world of dreams. Weci | Koninut is a powerful tribute to Indigenous cultures—a space for pause, for dreaming, and for reconnection with nature. It sparks dialogue on identity, ancestral values, and our shared responsibility toward our environment. Co-presented in its Canadian premiere by the Quartier des Spectacles Partnership and INIT, the installation will come to life at Le Parterre, in the heart of Montreal’s Quartier des Spectacles, September 16 - October 22, 2025. A creation by Dave Jenniss and Julie-Christina Picher, in collaboration with Eruoma Awashish, Étienne Thibeault, and Serge Maheu. Produced by Init in collaboration with Houston First Corporation and powered by Creos.
