News from Heritage Montreal:

In October 2009, Héritage Montréal unveiled the fruit of many months of effort, partnership and work: the giant Milk Bottle had been restored to its former glory after years of rusting.

Built in 1930 in Lachine by Dominion Bridge, this reservoir crowned the Guaranteed Pure Milk Co. dairy, a handsome Art Deco building whose presence is reminiscent of industries in the area around Windsor Station. In view of its condition, Héritage Montréal undertook to save it. Led by volunteers from the Board of Directors - Robert Turgeon, Hélène Godin, Bruce McNiven and Luce Lafontaine - Operation Save the Milk Bottle! lasted over 18 months.

Fascinating! Well worth a listen and a read:

Indigenous archaeologist argues humans may have arrived here 130,000 years ago. The dominant view that humans first came to North America during the last ice age is increasingly challenged.

The book:

In her book The Indigenous Paleolithic of the Western Hemisphere, archaeologist Paulette Steeves argues that the settlement of the Americas may have occurred closer to 130,000 ago. (University of Nebraska Press/Algoma University)
