Throughout the ages, art and mythologies have often walked hand in hand. Canadian artist Francesca Trop continues this dialogue with History and its myths, using her paintings to contemplate the human adventure and the stories we tell ourselves about our place in the cosmos. 

Francesca initially embraced a legal career before deciding, in 2009, to forego this path and choose fully her artistic self. She has since then developed her unique style and advanced her synthesis of representation and symbolic evocation. Francesca revisited the legal profession through a series of paintings.  She authored three books (“Esprits juridiques, Legal Spirits”, 2018 and “Great trials that changed the world”, 2021) in which she explores questions relating to morality and justice through her own paintings, sketches and texts. She currently works on new artistic projects exploring mythologies and philosophy through art. Francesca's work is included in several local and international collections and has been shown on the walls of various galleries and exhibitions.

Art et mythologie marchent souvent main dans la main.  L’artiste canadienne Francesca Trop dévoile avec ses peintures les mythes intemporels qui nous habitent, révélant des mondes enchanteurs, oniriques et colorés. Francesca a délaissé son métier d’avocate pour se consacrer pleinement à l’art, où elle continue sa réflexion sur la nature humaine à travers ses tableaux.  Son expérience professionnelle lui a inspiré une série d’œuvres sur l’univers du droit, qui a mené à la publication de trois livres illustrés qui questionnent la proximité entre la justice, la morale et la religion:  Esprits juridiques: mythes et symboles du monde juridique (2018) et Legal Spirits: myths and symbols of the legal world et Ces grands procès qui ont changé le monde (Éd. du passage, 2021).  Ses tableaux se retrouvent dans plusieurs collections privées. Francesca Trop poursuit sa démarche de philosophe visuelle à travers ses tableaux, gravures, livres et conférences : si une image vaut mille mots, comment traduire mille mots en une image?
