Donna Casa-Martin, born in Medford, Massachusetts, is deeply rooted in Québec, and has created some of her favourite work in the Magdalen Island, the Eastern Townships, and Charlevoix.  She is retired from a long career as a child psychotherapist, and has been painting for some 25 years. Donna's landscapes and still-life representations have been featured in exhibitions across Montreal. Her most recent solo show was in 2023 in Saint Lambert, “ Waiting for the Tide to Change”.

Painting is the way she explores and expresses her inner life and her experience of the environment. Through observation and sketching Donna develops ideas for her paintings. Landscapes with which she has an emotional connection are a favourite subject. Nature has contributed to inner harmony throughout her life. Common objects such as chairs, pots, and flowers are recurring themes that are used as metaphors for relationships and emotions. Line, vivid colour and movement are significant elements in each creation. Donna's work in watercolour and use collage, ink, and pastel to enhance her paintings. Each painting, a window on life, opens a potential dialogue between the viewer and the artist.
