Mardi 29 septembre 2026 de 19 h 30 à 21 h 30 at SANAAQ – Portraits de résilience : L’histoire d'un chef Ojibwé - Orchestre Hochelaga.
L’Orchestre Hochelaga est un nouvel orchestre dirigé par des Autochtones. Sa mission est de donner aux musiciens classiques autochtones un domicile qui est leur. L’orchestre, qui est en résidence au Centre Sanaaq, a pour directeur artistique Roger Twance, de la nation Ojibwé. Ce concert inaugural de l’Orchestre Hochelaga est une soirée d’histoire et de partage dans le cadre de la Journée nationale de la vérité et de la réconciliation. La musique choisie retrace le parcours de Roger Twance, un Autochtone qui travaille dans le domaine de la musique occidentale. La soirée sera aussi un moment pour comprendre les effets de la colonisation sur la relation entre les autochtones et les non autochtones.

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation – September 30, 2026:
September 30th marks National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day – Every Child Matters.
Orange Shirt Day – Every Child Matters began in Williams Lake, British Columbia, on September 30, 2013. Established to honour Residential School Survivors, their families, and those who never returned home, it serves as a powerful reminder of the lasting impacts of the Residential School system. What began as a grassroots initiative has since evolved into a nationally recognized movement, with individuals, organizations, and communities across Canada participating in acts of remembrance, reflection, and reconciliation each year.
The orange shirt symbolizes the loss of culture, freedom, and self-esteem that many Indigenous children experienced. This day reminds us that “Every Child Matters”.

Concours de poésie - La bibliothèque Marie-Uguay lance la deuxième édition de son concours de poésie dans le cadre du projet Carnet de la maison de la culture. Les consignes sont simples : écrivez au moins un poème original dans votre carnet et faites-y mention d’un lieu du Sud-Ouest. Remplissez ensuite le reste des pages du carnet comme bon vous semble!
Pour participer, récupérez un carnet dans l’un des lieux de distribution et indiquez que vous souhaitez participer au concours lors de votre inscription.

At La Guilde:
Thomas Whiteley is a printmaker based in Kuujjuaq, QC. Though he always had an interest in art, it was only in 2024 that he began devoting himself more seriously to printmaking. After attending a three-week-long training with professional artist Nadine Bariteau in Kuujjuaq, he acquired additional tools and techniques to develop his art practice. Since then, Whiteley has created a great number of prints. His work has been displayed in many galleries, such as Tivi Gallery (Kuujjuaq), La Guilde (Montreal) and Campbell River Art Gallery (B.C.), and is part of an institutional collection. In 2025, he was also the recipient of the Canada Arts Council Grant. His work as a pilot for Air Inuit continues to fuel his artistic inspiration by offering him a unique perspective on northern landscapes and Inuit culture. Today, Whiteley specializes in woodcut engraving and lino cutting. He remains dedicated to representing his northern way of life, modern Inuit culture, and his relationship with the land and animals.
